Sermon in a Sentence

Be still and know that I am God. (Psalms 4:10)

Life affords no greater responsibility, no greater privilege, than the raising of the next generation. 

We walk by faith, and not by sight. (II Cor. 5:7)

Most of the shadows of this life are caused by standing in one’s own sunshine.

Rick Warren wrote it well: It's not about you. The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness...If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born BY his purpose and FOR his purpose.

The heart has no secret which our conduct does not reveal.

The man who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated.

One reason the dog has so many friends: He wags his tail instead of his tongue. 

Guilt is concerned with the past. Worry is concerned about the future. Contentment enjoys the present.

The discipline of desire is the background of character.

People with tact have less to retract. 

A diamond is a chunk of coal that made good under pressure. 

Happiness is the result of circumstances, but joy endures in spite of circumstances.

The price of greatness is responsibility.

Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.

You cannot minister to your neighbors faults, but you must minister to his needs.

Thanksgiving was never meant to be limited to a one day observance.

A sharp tongue has severed many a good friendship.

It’s unfortunate when adults allow themselves to get like concrete — all mixed up and permanently set.

When you meet temptation, turn to the Right.

Give your best to God and His best will be given back to you again and again and again...

The Bible says, “train up a child in the way he should go” … and walk there yourself once in awhile!

Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible!

Some people are so heavenly minded they are no earthly good. 

Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death.

Can’t sleep? Don’t count sheep - talk to the shepherd.

If you must publish someone’s faults, then why not publish your own. 

Put your will in neutral so the Lord can shift you. 


Some people conduct their lives on the ‘cafeteria plan’ — self service only. 


God looks at our willingness to give rather than our ability.  

The real measure of a person's worth is: How much would they be worth if they lost everything?

When Christ entered our world he didn't come to brighten our Decembers, but to transform our lives. 

Selfishness makes Christmas a burden. Love makes it a delight. 

Regret not that Christmas comes but once a year but rejoice that in our world Christmas comes!

The purpose of prayer is not to get man's will done in heaven, but to get God's will done on earth.    

I'm just a nobody telling anybody about somebody who can save everybody.   

The yoke of the Lord Jesus will never fit a stiff neck.   

Be humble or you'll stumble!   

For the Christians, there is no such thing as bad news — only new challenges to our faith.   

Peace floods the soul — when Christ fills the heart.   

A bitter world can not be sweetened by sour Christians.   

Our love for God must be expressed in loving our fellow man.   

Seek Christ and you will find Him, and with Him you will find everything else you've been looking for!

What we have done for ourselves dies with us — what we have done for others remains.   

Nothing is more dreadful for a sinner nor more wonderful for a Christian than to be alone with God.   

Maybe you can’t understand all you read in the Bible, but you can obey all you do understand.  

Religion indicates man searching for God ... Christianity shows us God in search of man   

Real prayer always does one of two things … it either frees us from the trouble we fear … or else it gives us the strength and courage to meet the trouble when it comes!

People are guided to heaven by following the footprints of others rather than by signposts!

Because He is…we are! Because He did…we can! Because He gave….we have!

Believe your beliefs and doubt your doubts, but don’t make the mistake of doubting your beliefs and believing your doubts.
